Social Media & Web Consulting
Well, let’s just say I am a Jack or should I say… a Jane of all trades. If you are a business, either a veteran or newbie that is struggling with getting a solid web presence out in to the world, then perhaps I can help.
In a nutshell, here is the gist of what I know and can offer:
WEB DESIGN AND USABILITY
I am a trained web and graphic designer with strong expertise in designing for ease of use (aka usability) and understanding of websites by customers. My first real gig out of college was designing landing pages and campaign sites for HP.com for a few years, along with some freelance clients as well.
PAID SEARCH and SEO
From there, I entered the world of paid search marketing and SEO for HP. You want to talk about products being found in Google against multiple competitors and finicky algorithms? Yeah, I had to make it happen for HP across multiple product lines, business segments and languages across many search engines. My usability expertise for web came in handy for this SEO/SEM role because I was able to advise how destination landing pages should look based on how people were searching. The more relevant the destination to the query, the easier to find info, the faster to sale. During my time in this world, especially in the SEM area I was able to increase HP’s click through rates drastically, while keeping pay per click costs super low. Even for a fortune 50 company, a little cost savings goes a long way.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT
Then came social media.
Back in 2007/2008 HP was finally ready to get it’s feet wet in social media and I am fortunate enough to be part of the original corporate led team that kicked it all off. We took on the giant, complex task of creating a global branded strategy with the main social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the blogosphere (just to name a few). We lead the charge of opening the door to engage with customers and advocates alike and I took on the role of main community manager for the main HP Facebook and Twitter accounts. Part of my role as main community manager for HP was to also teach others globally to follow my lead.
My role as community manager included the duties of:
1. Content creation – Coordinating prioritized content across HP segments, while brainstorming new ways to get the HP story out in the world across social media sites.
2. Public relations – Managing and listening to incoming media to HP social channels.

3. Customer voice – Answering many questions from customers and fans of HP however they come in (Facebook, e-mail, Twitter)
4. Communications/marketing strategy –Responsible for creating strategic marketing/communications plans to provide direction for the company’s public-facing communications
5. Analytics –Using measurement and listening tools to provide reports on metrics. While continuously testing new ideas to improve engagement and brand affinity.
So, knowing what you now know about me, do you have a gap in your web presence I can help you fill? Perhaps you have an idea and just need someone to bounce if off of for validation? Maybe you are new to social media and want to strategize ways to get people talking about your brand?
Using my expertise, I can help you stand out in a very cluttered social/web landscape.
If you think I can help, drop me a brief description of who you are and some of your web needs and we can connect.
