Missing The Toronto Skyline
I saw an Enterprise rent-a-car commercial the other day that showed the Toronto skyline in the background. It flew by so fast that the avg untrained (American) eye probably wouldn’t have caught it, but I did and since then I’ve been sort of missing Toronto.
I don’t miss the congested traffic or high taxes or cost of living or people even, but I do kind of miss that big city landscape. You know, the lights, the skyscrapers, the modern day architecture – the identity of being a recognized city.
Coincidentally, one of my friends Blake posted this blogto.com post to his Facebook profile, showing Toronto throughout the 1980′s. It definitely brought some memories of going to visit my Nana and Papa when I was a kid and made me realize how quickly the Toronto skyline has changed just in the last 30 years.
It inspired me to do a little digging on the changes of the Toronto skyline and I found some of these cool pics and videos of Toronto from the past through to present day and beyond.

Toronto 2007 (FYI this was the year I moved away — how different it looks compared to 2010, only a few years later)
The above image was created by Scott Dickson and posted on Urban Toronto a while back. Dickson took to the task of rendering the skyline with buildings scheduled to be built in the upcoming years. For a high resolution look at his images (one of which is labeled), please follow the link.
All images but the first and last two are sourced from the Wikimedia Commons under a Creative Commons licence. The second last photo is from steve colwill of Flickr and the last is by Scott Dickson.

Next time you’re here. Let me know and I’ll give you a tour of the city from above. The view at 2000′ in the air flying over queens park, the dome, doing a few circuits around the CN Tower are pretty cool from a plane :)
